With fourth place in District 29-5A volleyball on the line, Cigarroa and Nixon squared off in a packed house at the Cigarroa gymnasium Tuesday night.
Nixon came into the game with a mission, to stay in the playoff race, and it accomplished that with a 3-1 defeat of Cigarroa, 25-10, 23-25, 25-21 and 25-22.
The Lady Mustangs moved into a tie with Cigarroa for fourth place. Both stand at 6-4 in district play. The season series between the two is split, 1-1.
Nixon's Rosalynn Velasquez put the fate of the team on her back with a 22-kill performance that was backed by Sammie Garcia's 10 kills.
